From distress to protection
Worried about your divorce? We’ve seen it all before and we can help…
From financial distress and losing the family home to a legally protected pension and lasting security for the kids
You thought starting the process was tough enough. Now you’re living through it and it feels like it’s never going to end.
Your ex isn’t making things easy.
The costs keep piling up.
And the one thing you want most – for it all to be over for good – keeps moving further away every week.
That’s exactly how Lauren felt.
She was living in a property still in her ex’s name. He was fighting her every step of the way.
Lauren was distraught. She’d spent thousands of pounds already and her original solicitor advised it would still take years of financial and emotional stress to resolve things fully.
Thankfully, she made one decision that changed everything. She picked up the phone for a second opinion.
She spoke to our Head of Family Law, Clare Pinnington who remembers “it was clear just how emotional Lauren was… And rightly so given the circumstances.”
Once the particulars of the case were explained, however, Clare was certain Pinnington Law could help. And it certainly wouldn’t take years.
Lauren agreed and instructed Pinnington Law to take over acting on her behalf. Clare continued managing the case throughout but also called in Stephen Pinnington, one of our Senior Solicitors, who was ready to represent Lauren in court if needed.
But it was never the plan to end up in court…
Lauren’s ex was stalling the entire process and being slow to respond or providing insufficient information whenever they were required to.
Having seen this play out many times before, we advised Lauren to take the calculated decision of initiating court proceedings whilst also presenting an offer as an alternative. Here’s how she described waiting to find out whether her ex would accept the offer or we’d end up facing each other in court,
“I arrived at the court feeling stressed, confused and anxious but soon felt reassured by Stephen’s support. The unrelenting support, expert advice and the time you both invested in my case made every bit of my experience worth it.”
Lauren’s ex accepted on the morning of the hearing. This meant we secured her and her children’s home and protected her pension from any future claims at the same time.
“This case was very rewarding,” said Clare, “ultimately, someone was in a terrible position and terrified. The fact we could turn it around and make sure the right outcome happened is why we’re in Family Law.”
And for Lauren, the relief was huge,
“It’s such an amazing outcome for me and I’m sincerely happy with the outcome and grateful to Stephen and Clare for their support. They both supported me through a difficult journey, and I can’t thank them enough.”
Following the financial settlement being agreed, Clare connected Lauren with the conveyancing team who supported her with transferring ownership of the family home.
The exact things that felt so out of reach.
Lauren said,
“Once again, I am most grateful to Clare and Stephen, and the rest of the team for the unwavering support you have all provided to me. I will never forget all that you did for me and my children to ensure we live our lives safely. You are the best… I really can’t thank you both enough!”
